We have talked a lot about the NVIDIA RTX range until now and still have articles in development explaining more details of its architecture and technologies. But what almost has not been talked about is the excluded RTX 2070. Today NVIDIA has unveiled the launch day of the RTX 2070 through its official Twitter account.
In his presentation NVDIA had three GPUs in the closed press rooms where the RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 were posing, but he did not give data of presentation of the latter until days later. With the commotion formed by the two superior sisters many are those who have forgotten the supposed “real middle range”.
Today the brand has set availability date: October 17 and has also confirmed the use of the entire TU106 chip, that is, the RTX 2070 will be the first Turing GPU for gaming to include a chip with all the features for which it was designed.
Recall that both the RTX 2080 Ti and the RTX 2080 include the trimmed TU104, since the full version is only included (for now) in the Quadro professional cards.
This TU104 will consist of 2304 CUDA cores, 36 RT Cores and 288 Cores Tensor, all linked to a 256-bit bus for an 8 GB configuration of GDDR6.
As a novelty, the use of only 6 power phases for the PCB Founders Edition and the already known absence of NVLINK port to form an SLI is confirmed.
The frequencies with boost will finally be raised in the Founders Edition versions up to 1710 MHz whereas the versions of current assemblers will obtain a speed of 1620 MHz.
This results in RTX-OPS speeds of 45T in the first case and 42T in the second, performance that is not affected by their memories since both versions will mount the same chips at a speed of 14 Gbps, which will give us a bandwidth of 448 GB / s.
As a curiosity, we have found a striking fact. The version Founders Edition will consume according to NVIDIA 175 watts, while the versions with the specifications without overclocking will have a consumption of 185 watts. That is, being slower consume 10 watts more.
To this we must add that NVIDIA will only include an 8-pin PCI-e connector to power it, while the same brand does not encrypt the requirements for the other versions without overclocking. Another curious fact is that at different speeds in GPUs, the brand does not change its performance in Giga Rays / s, with the same figure for both: 6 GR / s.
Finally, the price is still set at 639 euros for the Founders Edition and 499 euros for the reference versions, with zero stock for the first and not available at the moment for the second.
