Asus has launched a new cost version of VivoTab Notes 8 R80TA. The VivoTab Notes 8 R80TA is similar to Asus M80TA but comes with Windows 8.1 with Bing instead at a significantly lower price. At CES 2015 we expected Asus to launch a revamped VivoTab 8 but that did not happen. Instead the company launched Asus R80TA which has same technical configuration as the Asus M80TA but with a lower price tag.
The Asus R80TA price is ¥ 24,800 in Japan which is about € 184. This is half of what was the asking price of ASUS VivoTab Notes 8 M80TA-DL64S that is available at ¥ 49,800 that is about 369 euro.
So what are the differences between R80TA and Asus M80TA? Well you get Windows 8.1 with Bing (and not Windows 8.1) with the R80TA. Asus R80TA specifications include 8-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, quad-core Intel Atom Z3740 Bay Trail CPU, 2GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage (expandable with micro SD cards).
It is also the cheapest Windows tablet with integrated Wacom active digitizer. The pen supports more than 1,000 levels of pressure sensitivity. It is not really the first time that ASUS has tried to make this cheaper tablet. For instance ASUS VivoTab 8 (M81C) is very similar to Vivotab Notes 8 but lacks active digitizer and Wacom functionality.
